 Phlebotomy JobsIf you are interesting becoming a phlebotomy technician, you should know that this is a rapidly growing field with potential for boundless opportunities. The phlebotomists have become an increasingly respected member of the healthcare profession

Here at Safety Keeper Career Training Institute the Phlebotomy (PT) students will learn:to draw blood from patients or donors in hospitals, blood banks, urgent care, rehab centers, labs, doctor’s office or similar facilities for analysis or other medical purposes. A PT may perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Perform basic phlebotomy procedures
  • Evaluate patients for ability to withstand venipuncture procedure
  • Explain the venipuncture procedure and answer patient questions
  • Perform basic point of care testing, such as blood glucose levels on patients
  • Prepare blood, urine, and other body fluid specimens for testing according to established standards
  • Taking Vital Signs

Program Length: The training takes 75 to 165 hours. In order to graduate student has to successfully complete 35-125 classroom/lab hours and a minimum of 40 hours of hands on clinical externship at a license clinical facility.

Day and Time: day and evening and weekend schedules are available. A minimum of 5 students are required in order for the class to be held.

Types Certification/Credential: upon successful completion of the course the graduates will be eligible for certification from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). The certification exam is given through NHA.

And also the school will award the graduate a diploma/Certificate of completion with the institution's State license # reflect on it.

Benefits to obtaining a Phlebotomy Certification may include: more job opportunities, an increased pay scale, job security, and increased subject matter expertise.

Program Cost: ThePhlebotomy program is $780. Other costs include books, a criminal background check, student liability insurance (since the student will be working directly with patients), a physical exam, a drug screening fee, payment for a mandatory CPR Card  and NHA certification test fee. Our phlebotomy course is one of the most affordable in the state.

Financial Aid: Please note that Financial Aid is not available due to course length, however there are third party organizations that might assist you with the cost of the program.

  18. Discuss phlebotomy in relation to the health care setting.
  19. Identify the anatomic structure and function of body systems in relation to services performed by phlebotomist.
  20. Recognize and identify collection reagents supplies, equipment and interfering chemical substances.
  21. Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to perform phlebotomy.
  22. Practice infection control following universal (standard) precautions.
  23. Practice accepted procedures of transporting, accessioning and processing specimens.
  24. Practice quality assurance and safety.
