Patient Care Assistant Career Training Program
This program is designed to prepare our students for employment as cross-trained nursing assistants in both acute and long-term settings. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will assist in the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients, including surgical and pediatric patients.
State License/Certification: Upon successful completion of the PCA training program in our school, graduates are eligible to take the Florida Competency Examination to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
PROGRAM DELIVERY: This program is a planned sequence of instruction consisting of theory, laboratory, and clinical experiences.
The patient care assistant program is approximately 290 hours and the following table illustrates the program structure:

What is the difence between the PCA and PCT Program?
JOB OUTLOOK: Employment opportunities are overflowing! Upon program completion, the graduate will have the necessary skills and certifications to work in extended care facilities, hospital, urgent care, clinics, rehabilitation centers, nursing home, home healthcare agency, hospice, assisted-living facility just to name a few.
PROGRESS: The Patient Care Assistant is the first step on the nursing or healthcare career ranking. Another major advantage of this Program graduates are able to find flexible work schedules such as, week-ends, days, evening and night hours which may offer them the opportunity to work while they are continue to pursue career advancement in nursing as a licensed practical nurse or a registered nurse. In addition many facilities offer tuition re-imbursement for their patient care assistant employees to continue their advance education in the nursing field.
More JOB/SALARY OPPORTUNITIES: Salaries range from $11.41 to $17.00/hour. In some areas of the state a Patient Care Assistants may earn as much as $18.00/hour. It depends on the location and employer.
